Hi,

Just popped in to halfords this afternoon as was passing anyway and saw a 09 Carrera Banshee and it looks fabulous and the spec was really good for the money brilliant spoke to a helpfull sale person and he let me have a quick sit on it, couldnt go out as wasnt safe or something?.

Anyway looked on the website when i got home and saw the 08 model as well i prefer the look of the 09 but the 08 had marzocchi 55 forks rather than the 33's on the 09. However the 09 has a Rockshox ario rear shock which looks better than the suntour on the 08.

Anyway which one would you go for??

I have heard these bikes are a bit heavy. But, I would go for the 09 version, just because it's newer, this is a tough decision though
  • 09 model for me.

Do you know the weight of them as will be riding uphill as well as down! cant find it anywhere.

I would appreciate any other bike suggestions sub £700 if anyone has any. and i know i would get a better specced hardtail but after riding a Full sus i can live with the weight penalty uphill for more fun downhill.

    Cheers
  • Forks and rear suspension I believe are both better on the 2008 version...

Marzocchi 55R 140mm travel suspension fork with air spring Vs Burly Marzocchie 33R Suspension forks with a 15 mm axel for increased stiffness and improved front wheel tracking

Suntour Epicon Air shock with lock out and rebound damping adjuster Vs Rockshox Ario 2.1 Air sprung shock delivers 150mm of controllable plush travel

Tektro Auriga hydraulic disc brakes, wavy rotors, 205mm front and 180mm rear Vs Avid Juicy 3 Hydraulic 180mm disc brakes

    2020 Voodoo Marasa
2017 Cube Attain GTC Pro Disc 2016
    2016 Voodoo Wazoo

Hi, Didnt realize the 55 was air which is good but coil felt ok (Not too stiff or plush) The rear ario shock has rebound (At least it Did in the shop) and not a fan of lockout as just seems to make the ride bouncy.

and i would prefer the avid brakes over the tektro also on the banshee the avids were 185mm front and rear which is perfect. (white colour and save a bit of weight on the rotors and im only 10 stone so dont really need 203mm)

Do you know which model 08 or 09 would be lighter? and i also prefer the colour of the 09 model!

    cheers

Yeh i know it just seems a bit pointless having bigger rotors on it.
