Ardeche-Cevennes-Tarn in October?

Hi All.

Ms B and myself have two weeks to ride from Avignon to Perpignan during the last two weeks of October. We fancy the Gorge d'Ardeche, Cevennes, Gorge du Tarn and then, depending on time, either visit Rodez or head south towards Castres, Carcassone, Quillan, Axat and so on. If the weather forecast is bad for inland, we'll stick to the Med and Roussillion.

We're planning on camping as much as possible, or failing that, staying in Gites d'etapes. What are the chances of getting many campsites still open?

Any input from anyone familiar with these areas, especially at that time of year, most welcome.

Many thanks in advance.

Stuart

Not sure of October, but was there (Tarn Gorge) in July.
We stayed 4 nights at Les Vignes, and would heartlily recomend it. Small campsite by the river, amazing views.

We cycles up the hills either side of the gorge, and descended further up. All sorts of possibilities up to St Enemie and Malene. Fantastic!

We also cycled the Lot Valley down from Cahors, and it was superb, if a little flatter than the Tarn.

    Have a great time!!
