Using this forum makes me a better rider!

It’s true… Before I came here I used to jump red lights, ride on pavements, think the Highway Code only applied to motorists and generally give cyclists a bad name… And pity the motorist who would dare complain or gesticulate to me about my riding… The W@nkers sign would have been applied as close to his face as I could get.
Since joining this forum I’ve realised these practices are not acceptable. I understand that motorists are living organisms and feel indignation and frustration at having to pay lots of money to sit in a queue in a steel box…
I now wait my turn at lights (albeit having filter carefully to the front of the queue), I allow motorists right of way if they arrive at junctions before me. I only cycle on designated cycle paths or the carriageway.
Reading threads on this forum prompted me to challenge my warped perception and sense of superiority of motorists. I’m not totally cured yet. I still feel superior to people who drive to work, but I now show consideration as well…
Now all I need to do is find a good Christian forum to help me give up Bourbon, Black Jack and women…

Good stuff. Sure they'll be many on here relieved that all the comments made have at least made one person think and challenge their own behaviour.
The world can be a better place.
As an alcoholic, gambling womaniser, I think this may have been the least of your worries though...0 -
It - or rather you lot - cured me of my occasional RLJ activities - I now take pleasure in having a few seconds pointedly sitting at the front of a q waiting for the lights to change. One more notch on drivers' 'You Smug Tw@tometer' if nothing else; they'll still hate cyclists but for being in the way, rather than having jumped the light and scuttled off out of the way.0

Well - while we're baring our soul so to speak - I feel the same: while I never RLJ'd I was less considerate than I could've been and certainly not as safe as I should've been.
Reading the stories, learning the lessons has definitely made me a better / safer rider
