SW Trains makes cycling worth it!

Got the train in for the first day of a short term contract job. Mistake!

Little did I realise that all of SW trains (bar very few) run express to wherever they're going, leaving only infrequent slow trains to everywhere else.

35 minutes Woking to Surbiton on the slow train, then wait 25 minutes for a connection to New Malden while every other inbound train that stops runs express from there to Waterloo. (If I'd brought my folder I would have cycled this bit).

Total journey time door to door (including cycling to the station) about 90 minutes for a fare that is only slightly less than the contract rate I didn't get for being late (more if tax gets figured)

According to the route map I've worked out, the total distance is around 28km, which I reckon I can cycle in quite a bit under 90 minutes, even allowing for s shower and change its worth it not to bother with the stress of SW Trains and just ride.

Oh well, needed to get my mileage up anyway....
'Twas Mulga Bill, from Eaglehawk, that caught the cycling craze....
