Hi Everyone
I'm about to buy a bike after not riding for around 10 years, the problem is which one! I think i am going to go for the trek 4300 disc 2010 model, partly as i am very tall and need a 24" frame.
Before i buy though i really hoped to get some idea's regarding what else might be suitable in that sort of price range (£425)
Also i have read that the 09 model had RST Gila T8 forks which seem to get bad reviews but the 2010 model seems to come with Spinner 300 forks. Could anyone tell me if these are any better?
Thanks
Dave

They should be better - heavy but damped.
How tall are you? I would still try one first.0 -

Thanks for the reply. I'm 6'8'' in answer to your question. I would like to try but can't find one anywhere in 24'' and the shop will need to order it in. Being a bit of a novice again is it likely my LBS will let me try before i buy on a product they have had to order for me?
Thanks

Possibly - if not try Trek UK direct as I find them to be very helpful.
Do they do a 22 - that might fit.0 -
thanks again, will call them tomorrow. I did try a 22'' in a 6000 series trek as my LBS had one in stock. They said it was pretty much identical to the 4300 in terms of geometry but it was a bit on the small side.
Any other suggestions for bikes in this sort of price range?0 -
Have a look at our What Bike threads in this section in the stickies.
Giant (appropriately!) do very large sizes.0 -
God dammit! I never knew finding a bike would be so hard! I am about ready to buy the trek when i see that the cannondale f6 disc is £450. the jumbo 09 version is not much different in size, but seems to have a slightly diferent riding positon from analysing the geo.
I can't try the trek but i am trying the cannondale 2morrow, question is, with £25 in the price, which is the better bike??0 -
The better bike is always the one that suits you best ;-)
Both are nice machines - and both have damped forks.0
