How come KMC Z9000 chains are so cheap?

I'm going to buy a couple of new chains for the commuter and looking at the prices the KMC Z9000 chains seem to be a bargain at £8.99 apiece.
What's the catch? Is there some reason I should pay more?
I've got a load of spare joining links already so that's not an issue and because it's the commuter I'm not fussed about weight or appearance.
Just wanted to check I haven't missed some glaringly obvious fault before buying.

Each link is sharpened to a razor-like point so you can't actually clean or remove the chain, and if it breaks you will lose both legs at the ankle.
On the plus side, it's good in a bar fight.0 -
A reasonable trade-off.
In related news: I'm hovering over the "buy" button so serious answers would be welcome0 -
They're slightly less machined, so weigh a bit more and might shift a bit slower. For a commuter, they're fine, perfect in fact.0

Not well liked over here:

That said, it's usually the unhappy types who post reviews.0 -
Hmmm... Might go for an X-series again then.
Or splash out on three SRAMs (114 links isn't enough so I'll need a third chain to bastardise for extra links).0 -
Ordered three SRAM PC951 chains from ChainReaction.
Cheers Elephant - didn't like the look of those reviews one bit and I always preferred the SRAM chain I had previously over the current KMC X9 jobby.0
