Hello all,

I have been looking for a couple of weeks now for a road bike to invest in, and have spotted a new 09 CAAD9 with Tiagra components for £720. Does anyone have one and can recommend it ? Is it a good bike for the money ?
I only really plan to do a few 15-20 miler's through the week in the hilly west coast of Scotland, and maybe / hopefully progress further at weekends.
I have been baffled by the range of bikes to chose from and have spotted a few decent options ie. BeOne, Focus, Cube but I keep veering to going for the more established name.

The CAAD9 is one of the finest Aluminium framed bikes out there. You won't go wrong at that price & it is more than capable of deaaling with the riding you intend to do on it (and more). If you keep on riding it, the frame is good enough to make future upgrades on components well worthwhile.
    Buy it!

    ...and it looks pretty. :D

The Kiron MTL-Blade from Wiggle is £800 and runs overall better gear.
The frame is also one of the finest alu ones on the market.
    Worth a look IMHO.
  • Called up the shop that had them for £720 to enquire and they are now sold out, May need to make my mind up sharpish, all the bigger 09 frames are selling out quickly it seems.

They sell out quickly for a good reason...
  • Hi, Had a quick look at the Kiron there. Seems a real good bike for the money. I cannot find any dimensions for it though. I thought I was pretty much aware of most road bike manufactures before looking for my next ride, but there are a quite a few new kids on the block, including the ones i mention in my original post. What to do...

The CAAD9 is awesome, I don't think my CAAD9 is lighter than my old bike much but I'm abit faster on it, I think that's down to a much stiffer frame possibly.

Go to the description tab for the item http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Kiron ... 360043854/
And it will list the geometry table at the bottom.
You can always email them a question if not clear.
For the money I would not hesitate.
  • I have a CAAD9 (liquigas) and love it - £720 sounds like a gift especially as 2010 bikes will cost more with lower specs.

2010 CAAD9 Tiagra is £999 so if it is findable at £720 buy it quick.
