I just got back from Morzine and am having withdrawal already! It was amazing; I'm especially pleased at making it down the Pleney a few times without crashing!
Anyway I'm already thinking of planning next summer's trip - any suggestions where to go next?

I'm thinking of going next year. Can you give me some details of your trip please; who you booked up with, accommodation, etc etc.. ?

well i went on a girls holiday called dirtgirls, run by flowmtb - so dunno if you'd be interested in that! But, they do self catered and catered chalets and were really good, would definitely recommend them, the chalets were in central Morzine within easy reach of lifts etc and bars, shops. And you could get to lots of other places easily using the lifts (Morgins, Les Gets, Lindarets etc)
what else do you need to know? oh yeah, we drove down, which was okay if you're prepared for a longish drive, it was good to be able to pack loads of spare stuff anyway!

I've got to get myself on a biking holiday next year. Les Arcs is my no.1 choice, heard so much good stuff about it. However, i may end up going with Sierra Cycling (Who i've also heard much goodness about) as my missus will want to do the beach thing while i'm riding.

i have seen the flights go up in price since my first trip in may last year ( it was not my first trip to canda but was my first trip mtbing in whistler) our flights for sep 09 and may 09 came in at around £500 each same in may sept last year cost £450 quid... when i went in may last year it was pnly £306. each.. so as you can see it has gone up since may 08,.. those flights are through canadian affair they by far the cheapest..

Were hoping to go to Whistler next year. Been to Morzine twice, had a great time, but Whistler is meant to have better weather (on average) and better maintained trails.

Flights are obviously gonna cost a lot, but it's worth checking out the bike park prices too. Quite a bit more expensive than Morzine if you want lift access everyday.

depending on how long you going for and intending to ride the park you may be best purchasing a season pass..
i think it was $120 for a 3 day samler pass or $50 something dollars a day. it also depends when you go as they have peek season and low season.

i remeber sept last year and may payng $40 a day for a ticket.
  • Did Morzine/Les Gets at the beggining of July.

I went out for two weeks at the end of june/start of july. Stayed in Morzne at Le Slalom, very nice apartment, secure bike storage, good price.

Out of the two weeks the group only spent around 3 days in Morzine/Les Gets. Took the lifts over to chatel, morgins, champery, swiss national. Tracks are much better and a lot smoother.

Yeah so £22 a day, or £120 for a typical 6 day riding week. Not exactly the end of the world compared to an £80 6 day porto solay (sorry sp?) pass. I keep doing the mental maths with us dollars.

I know it sounds daft, but i'm already looking forward too it next year. Sadly for methe money is the easy part.

pj it's canadian dollar in canada usually higer rate than the us dollar..

and i know it's expensive but if you go there you will know why, ask anone who's been and they will tell you,, the place is amazing...

i can't compare it to the alps as i aint been.. well biking i have snowboarded in the alps and various canadian and us resorts, and have to say if thats anything to go by then canada will be better, in my opinion...
and it's the same the lift tickets are more expensive than the alps, but well worth it...

Ah no doubt. That's why were going. I missed Morzine with injury this year, but for my mate it was trip number 3.

They said they had a great time, and they've improved things this year. But they're over the imfamous braking bumps and mud.

Like I say, I'm already bursting with the thought of whistler. I'm takng my Shocker as a sort of pilgramige back to Canada, but I fancy renting a 6"er or something and try out some of the single track!

Yeah I know it's the Canadian dollar, just my mental calculator is shit.
