Swapping Hybrid for MTB... (Boardman)

Hi guys
I'm looking at swapping my Boardman Hybrid Team bike (£550 last October - should get £300-£400 on ebay) for a MTB due to the fact I'm no longer commuting into Leeds city centre (as I've just moved there!). As such I'm looking for a MTB that will intially be suitable for trails, forests etc. around the Yorkshire area, but with scope that it could handle the rougher stuff if I get further into it.
I bought my Hybrid team via a cycle to work scheme and am considering doing the same but with the Boardman Comp MTB (£700). Does anyone have any thoughts on this bike and would they recommend anything else at a similar RRP?
My company only deals with Halfords but I know I can get any other brand at the RRP so if there is anything in the same ball park please let me know. Also is it worth trading up from the sport version? Thanks

First off don't sell the bike until you have had a word with your employers as it is not your bike - you are loaning it off them.0

Yeah, I loan it over 12 months, after which I have to pay a 10% disposal fee to own the bike. I pay this fee next week and then its mine!0
