Colour Schemes

I am *contemplating* buying myself a new toy. My plan is to transfer the good bits from my current bike onto a new frame, and then top up the rest with new shiney bits. However, I'm trying to get an idea of what looks good.

I will keep my crankset (Silver Race Face Deus), fork (White RockShox Revelations), tyres (black Panaracer Fire XC Pros), brakes (Silver Avid Juicy 5s), and derailleurs/shifters (normal dark XT colours) - what colour wheels (and hubs), frame and 'other bits' (handlebars, grips, stem, headset, saddle, seatpost, seatclamp, bottom bracket etc.) would you choose? And if your bike has white forks, a silver crankset and black tyres, could you post a picure?

I'll be interested to see what this turns up!

Thanks in advance :-)

Delcol - you got those Hammerschmidt cranks? How do they work for you? Interested to see how they are in practice vs a dual set up and guards? Sorry to derail the thread!

paul it's actually my brothers bike.. i have rode them well it.

they are unreal they shift so fast and so crisp as soon as you click the shifter they shift, you don't have to pedal or can pedal backwards to shift..

even shifts underload like if you get caught out on a climb click it shifts down instanley, some time to fast,. minor complaint, when your cruising along a trail and shift down for the coming hill it shifts so fast your feet can come off the pedals, you get used to it though,,

the clearence you get to is awesome,...
got them in whistler in may for a decent price, we get 20% @ fanatykco cause we spent so much money in there over the last year, thats were the knolly frame came from. imo the h's is awesome.
  • Thanks delcol - I had a similar idea in my mind but having red bits instead of gold... and black handlebars with red grips!

Want blue, just put blue hub at front and blue grips:

Or white frame with blue bits:

    Or purple:

    Or red:

It all depends on the colour of the frame, what frames are you considering?
And I know that they are all Street/DJ bikes but only those guys make their bikes look pimp.
And don't bother with the brakes, drivetrain, it's the frame forks, stem, handlebars, grips,
hubs, saddle and bashring that make all the difference, imho.
  • The more I look around, the more I like white with red bits. I am yet to see a bike with white forks and frame with white rims too though? I'm thinking that might be too white...

Xtreem - at the moment I have a Santa Cruz superlight in mind, but it's all just ideas at the moment. I need to have a shop around, try a few bikes out and see :-)

Added white grips and stem to my Hifi Pro and a red/white FSA carbon bar, look great with the white saddle and forks. Saving fro some red Fulrcrum Red Metal Zero wheels, though I've seen another Hifi with white Olympic rims that look great.

I've gone for Black Rims and spokes and red and blue highlights- to match the adjusters on the Fox forks.....Hubs are a slighty mis-matched, but very nice dark greeny blue - the only choice available as part of a special offer...

I have to say white grips probably a mistake!

i reckon an anodised purple fs frame like ameta or zesty, lime green graphics, white tubeless wheels, full xtr and white finishing kit would lok the biz,
  • Thanks for all the replies guys! You've given me a fair bit to think about...

lawman - I like those white wheels!

Ads4 - that red frame works really well too, especially with the white forks

If I remember i'll stick some photos up, but i'm a massive colour coordinating tart.

My 456 (see sig) is red black and silver, much like the scott that it replaced.

My new scott is going to be all black and gold when i'm finished with it.

My inbred is going to basically be entirely white barring a few splashes of anodised bits that i can't avoid.

My pompino is blue and black.

I can give you two fine examples of Red on black - namely and anodised Nicolai Helius CC and a Ibis Mojo SL in carbon flavour, with fully coordinated owner, and one standard issue Orange 5 soon to have loverly Hope red bits too.

  • Thanks again for the replies!

ride_whenever - red and black definitely works well. I like your 456!

delcol - that colour scheme is very similar to what is going round my mind. Put some white rims on that and then add some red flashy bits and I think that is what I'll aim for :-)

Steve_b77 - again, black and red working well together! I like the look of those frames - I'll do some googling!
