Shimano M520 and M770 difference

I'm lookin to purchase some new pedals as well as new shoes. I was wondering is the difference between the XT and 520 pedals the weight or is the release mechanism on the XT a lot better. And is the price difference worth it?

    The 520's are good pedals

    The 770's are good pedals, with a bit more bling factor & a little (only 28g) less weight

    If you're trying SPD's for the 1st time go for the 520's, incase you don't get on with them you have blown less cash.

    Shoes need to be tried on at a LBS as they all differ in fit (Spesh BG Sport shoes are comfy for me)

    Or get the 540's.
    They can be had for £35, are the same weight as XT and likewise can be removed/fitted with an 8mm allen key.
