80 miles (+ 1 or 2 more :? ) from Morpeth, a couple more from Cramlington.

Morpeth to Blanchland via Ponteland, Stamfordham, Corbridge. Hilly bit in the middle. Cake stop at Blanchland  so bring your wallet.

I'm leaving from Morpeth, 636sean is leaving from Cramlington. We're meeting just north of Stannington (next to that Indian Restaurant that used to be the Little Chef), probably at 08.30, maybe a little later (not much though).

Anyone else??

Pace? definitely training ride not a race. We both did the 101 mile Cyclone in 6hrs 50mins including stops at the feed stations.

Great training route in preparation for the Cumberland Challenge in 2 weeks time

Can't make it, but sounds interesting. Not sure of your exact route, but you can cycle through Minsteracres, despite what the signs say and it is lovely. That tea room in Blanchland is great, so is the climb out of there.

By the way, that Montane factory shop is closing down soon, got a Featherlight H2O jacket today for 15 quid, looking at Sunday's forecast, you might just need one

    The route (from Morpeth) is:

Morpeth - Stannington - Ponteland - Dalton - Stamfordham - East Wallhouses - Aydon - Corbridge - Dilston - (west of) Slaley - Blanchland - east out of Blanchland towards Ruffside but turn left and follow north side of Derwent Resevoir - Barley Hill - Kiln Pit Hill - Ridley Mill - Stocksfield - Bywell - Welton - Stamfordham - Dalton - Ponteland - Stannington - Morpeth.

Interesting news about the Montane Factory Shop, perhaps a trip over there today is in order......

Don't look at the forecast man wiffachip, you know the glorious North East has it's own unique micro climate (which entails a strong head wind in any direction and 5 degrees colder than anywhere else in the country).

    Anyone??

Slightly off topic, but where is the Montane factory shop? I have been after an H2O for a while now

Trying again next Sunday, the 30th, as the weather was crap and I ended up loosing the front wheel and doing a lot of costly damage to both clothing and bike :(

Here's hoping for better weather next Sunday!

    Anyone??
