Have i made a mistake using SBR sports (Bonthrone)?

I ordered some bars a week ago and still don't have them although they say they were dispatched on Wednesday. They were the only company that had the ones I wanted.
When I call I get an answerphone with no option to leave a message.

It took them over a week from the bike I ordered arriving at their warehouse to shipping it out. Phoned on 4 different days (as I was promised it'd be sent out each day) and each time they said it'd been shipped that morning.
Am still waiting (over 2 weeks) for a not insignificant refund for an incorrect item.
Every person I've spoken to there has been very helpful and full of promises but I'm still waiting.
EDIT: This was eventually resolved to my satisfaction after much pestering :-)0 -
Personally I am not a fan and would never use them again. I'm sure it will eventually turn up - I don't think they're crooks - but my general advice would be to steer clear.Bike lover and part-time cyclist.0

I ordered a pair of tyres, received confirmation email, nothing arrived in 2 weeks, I got onto them, they said there had been a problem with my card and could I resend my details (received this request in a very unofficial-looking email). Despite my worries over internet security I did send my details, which I received no acknowledgement of, and in another week when nothing had come I tried ringing them - no answer, and I couldn't be bothered waiting for someone to be around to answer the phone so i ordered a pair from another shop. Eventually when i had been riding around on the pair from the other shop (which came in 2 days) for about a month, I received the tyres! note: they didn't charge my card until despatch which is why I wasn't getting mad with them about it. In the end I decided to keep the tyres because I wasn't out of pocket and will always need new tyres. But if you want something in a hurry, maybe stay clear!0

+1 This is almost exactly what happened to me. Eight weeks after my original order, and two weeks after I'd bought the stuff somewhere else it turned up.0 -
Sounds like they hold little to no stock and order it in when needed.0

That seems to be about it. that's why they're often the only people offering certain parts.
This means that if the part takes ages to get from the supplier, you're in for a long wait.
Perhaps we should try ordering a long weight from them?0 -

They don't do themselves any favours then in not telling people that. E.g. If they are the only people who can get the part I need and they tell me it'll take 2 weeks or 4 weeks or whatever I'd just accept it. If on the other hand I'm expecting it to be dispatched within a day or two and arrive within a few days, but then it takes 8 weeks I'm going to be very p@ssed off.
My only dealings with Bonthrone/SBR was not a good one (took ages, wrong part sent out even after I phoned to confirm the details of the one I was about to order) so I won't use them again unless I'm desperate.
Didn't they or their predecessor go bust a few years back?More problems but still living....0 -
Yep, had the same, crap customer service, in fact, they never sent the item I ordered, although they were quick to take the money. It took three calls to get my refund....never again!0
