Track Pump

Hi,

Just got my first track pump - shouldn't the gauge stay at the psi level when attached to the valve?

The needle seems to go up as I push down but quickly goes back to zero so it's hard to see what the pressure is?

Is it buggered or is this how they work?

Keep pumping, as the pressure builds it should settle on the right pressure when you stop.. might be just that its low, or the connector isn't on the valve properly..

Just tried it on my car and it seems to work fine but on the bike (presta valve) it's not recognising the pressure.

Is there a knack to it? I've tried it with the nut on the valve fully unscrewed, half unscrewed. The pump attachment fully pushed down, partly pushed down but nothing.

    It's pumping the tyre ok???

Do you need to reverse the seal on the track pump first?

It's a Bontrager charger from Evans

It says it automatically selects either valve?

According to the blurb it does auto adjust.

You say that you are getting air into the tyres, but the pump gauge is not reading correctly when using it on Presta valves, hmmm....

Are the tubes slime tubes? Is the presta valve sticking at all?

No not slime and the valve seems fine.

Think I'll pop in to Evans tomorrow.

Is strange, will let you know what they say - Thanks for your help!

Sorry mate, you've probably sorted it now?

I took it back to the shop and got a new one which works fine. They said some can have holes punched in the wrong place or dodgy rubber bits?

Sounds poor for a Bontrager product... :?
