I'm attempting to remove my cranks.
I have a set of "Bontrager GXP Gigaxpipes 7050" on 2006 Trek ex7.
I have remove the left crank arm, but i'm having trouble removing the right side. I have looked at Parktools site and Bontrager site and I far as I can telll the spindle is attached to the right crank and it should pull out, but it is not pulling out. I'm about to take a mallet too try and tap it out, but I thought I would just check that I havn't missed something.
Have I missed something?

On the hollowtech cranks which have the spindle attached to the right crank, tapping with a rubber or plastic mallet on the left spindle end should push it out. not sure if this is what you have.0

Nope.
Other than soft faced mallet."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Thanks for the replies.
In the end took the frame with attached crank to LBS.
They managed to removed it by -
1, Using a mallet.
2, A lighter!!!!
3, and some kind of washer removal tool.
What had happened is that part of the non-drive BB side (a ring/washer looking thing) was stuck on the spindle, the hammering with the mallet pushed the gigaxpipe plastic sleeve over the ring/washer, thus requiring the step a lighter to melt the plastic sleeve off.
Well it's all sorted. No charge
Now to carry on with the new bike build.0
