Hi, i have managed to round the alun key head on the screw that holds the cleat to my shimano shoes. The problem is that i need to get the cleat off, so any suggestions?

  • drill the head off the bolt and hope you can get some pliers on the stump that will be left.

Alternatively, use a hack saw to make a groove in the bolt and use a screwdriver to remove the bolt, if its in reach.

the easiest way is to drill the head off, then remove the insole and you should be able to get the cleat plate out from the inside of the shoe...

then removing the remaining grub is easy...

When you have finally got the old cleat off (the above are all good ideas) put some anti sieze copper grease on the cleat bolts to stop you having to go through it all again
