i have just bought a second hand marin with hope m4 disc brakes and they squeak like mad weather im braking hard or light. this is the first bike ive had with disc brakes ( im old school!) so im not very clued up with them.
the pads look fine, not much wear in them at all. ive cleaned the rotors and checked all the bolts but all are sound.
please help!!! its driving me and my mates mad!!!!

I think you need some grease on the back of the pad where the piston pushes it... That works on cars and motorbikes... You'll need to get the right grease from your LBS though...
(and make sure you grease the back of the pad not the front ...lol)

no no no no no to greasing or putting copaslip on the back of the pads on mtbs.

the systems don't get hot enough to stop it seeping through and contaminating the breaking surface...

Remove pads and lightly sand them...

have the mounting points been faced?

What hopes are they (what colour) the older ones squeak all the time, and the newer ones still shreak in the wet.
