Libyan Bomber To Go Home

I watched the extraordinary session of Scottish parliament yesterday and I have to say that I am even more impressed with the Justice Minister.
Nice to see a politician with spine.
What is a great shame is all the other morons that have decided to go after him, not because they really care, or have really thought through some of the idiotic things they are saying, but purely to further their own political career and that of their party.
It was a perfect opportunity for the Scotts to stand united, but alas that opportunity has gone amiss.
I really hope the justice minister does not resign over this, and it would be nice if Brown defended him, but of course that probably won't happen.
And those Americans ..... whenever they do not get their own way they stamp their feet, call for boycotts, change everything to Freedom this and Freedom that. Always quick to point the accusing finger at everyone else other than themselves. It is also a shame Obama did not stand up and say that he respected the decision as it was made by a respected ally in accordance with their laws. Another chance missed.
Well done Justice Minister. Nice to see someone doing the right thing and standing by the decision despite all the **** being thrown his way.0 -

I think it's a lot more complicated than that. I didn't (probably still don't) understand the ins and outs of it. Interesting read here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockerbie_ ... nd_appeals
everything from the intial handing over for trial, how the trial would take place, where it would take place, under what law etc was all done through negotiation. It was in no way an ordinary process.
And reading the "facts" about it have made me realise what a sordid affair the whole thing is. I doubt very much that the man convicted planned and executed the crime on his own, i think many others have gotten away quite literally with murder. Worse for me is that nations appear to be involved. And it sickens me that this has been used as a bargining tool for nations and individuals own agendas.0 -
And regarding him being released. Scots law has been followed. Scots law was the law that was negotiated for his trial, (was there not anger at this in the 1st place from some as they wanted him to face the death penalty?) the goal posts cannot be changed He was not singled out for special treatment in this. There is such controversy purely because the Lockerbie Bombing is such an emotive issue. If people have an issue with the decison they have an issue with our law, which is a whole other argument.0

Ha ha ha hee hee hee - did'nt we jst p1ss the yamks off... sheer magic. They shot a passenger jet down only a couple of months before - where was the fuck1ng trial ? Who was brought to justice for that? Hypocritical barstewards.
There are son many holes in the case against Al Megrahi and besdies which innocent or not one man could not possible be held to account for those deaths, it would have taken a legion of people to carry it out.
I am so glad that the Scottish Judiciary had the balls to grant clemency against the tide of yankee-doodle interference and hypocarcy. The release has done more for diplomatic relations witht he Muslim world than anything else in recent history.
Besides, merci is a powerful tool.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0
