Skinny armed people

Am I alone in having trouble finding stuff that fits?
Went to the LBS to spend some vouchers and tried on a couple of things - a specialized base layer in a medium, didn't even get over my shoulders (they didn't have any in large).
Then I thought arm warmers might be nice - tried the large this time, they were the right fit, but about 4 inches too long.
Is road gear generally this slight? Contrary to my name I'm not actually that fat, I just like to keep my rippling 6 pack warm.

Nope, it's not just you that has problems! I have trouble at the exact opposite end of the scale - I have a svelte 27" waist and most manufacturers (mainly English and American) idea of "small" is a generous 28-30" or even 30-32".
Given the elasticity of lycra it is suprising that so many people have problems with cycling clothing.
Luckily, (after many wasted £'s on "it fits where it touches stuff!") I happened upon Prendas Ciclismo, http://www.prendas.co.uk/default.asp who's clothing is the size it says on the label. and it's damned fine stuff too! Mick & Andy there are very helpful - if you send them your measurements, I'm sure they'll be able to assist. 8)Cycling weakly0 -
Wheezy, try the unbranded probikekit gear for arm and leg warmers. They are more 'free form' and stretch better. They also tend to be fairly short in relation to chunkiness. (too short for me im a huge genetic freak!)0

Sizing is a bit of a minefield. European sizing is a smaller cut than UK and the cut even differs between country's. IME a spanish size 4 is larger than an Italian. Italian kit especially Nallini and Santini is a much smaller cut than UK.Neil

I'm at your end of the scale too and it's a pain sometimes. Have you bought any bibs from Prendas? I have the same waist as you and I'm 5'8.5". I'm wondering if a Small would work.

Most Italian makes (and this goes for ALL clothes, not just cycling) go smaller on their sizing, so ultra-skinny people could always go to those makes first and select THEIR small - less drag, less flap, MORE SPEED0

Cheers, will have a look at those - unfortunately I had vouchers specific to the shop, really struggled to spend them though.
Haven't had any problem with shorts in the past, although the LBS didn't have any shorts in large either!!!!0 -

Yes, I ended up getting TWO pairs of the Santini Chianti Classico bibs, as I tried the XS first and they were a bit too small, so ordered the Small as well (so that I could try them side-by-side) and liked them so much I swopped the XS pair for a second small pair.
They fit like a glove!!! (without the fingers!)
+ really well made! (I'm 5'7", so the small should fit you perfectly also).

I have two medium Parentini jerseys and a Santini in small. They are all about the same size though one of the Parentinis is slightly longer than the other!
I think it is all a bit random!
All nice though perhaps the Santini (a Prendas retro) could be a little longer as it doesn't have a longer back than front.Faster than a tent.......0 -
