Thinking of heading up to Glentress for a few nights and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on suitable places to stay on a budget? Looking for a B&B, cheap hotel or maybe a caravan? Would probably like to be in Peebles itself I think, but not sure as we've not been there before. All thoughts / recommendations welcome.

Cheers.

Great place to stay 30 quid per night only a couple of miles from peebles,
safe bike storage good breakfast cant go wrong :) .
Oh and the lady that runs it reminds me of Mrs doubtfire for some reason
  • I can back that up. The lady who runs it dried out our wet gear for us which was a bonus, just make sure you put your muddy boots on the newspaper!

If you're in a group, you can't beat Glentrail... Also, there's lots of places in Peebles that are bike friendly, but not many of the owners are up the hills with a mattock doing trailbuilding, or organising mtb events

  • Innerhaven !

Awesome pad , run by local trail expert and uber-nice chap Andy , Look no further. We were all well impressed. Self catering.

just google innerhaven, there's reviews on google too i think.

Innerhaven looks fab - Andy was really helpful when I was looking to book accomodation up there. Unfortunately we didn't stay there (I was booking for a group - it got complicated!) but Andy was suggesting other places and going well beyond the call of duty :D

  • Cheers for all the info guys. Probably should have been a bit clearer that there are only 2 of us (Myself and GF) so anything more than a B&B type room is probably a bit of a waste of money. So as far as I can make out, that rules out Glentrail and Innerhaven.

Winkston looked promising but ideally we wanted to go for the bank holiday weekend and after phoning Winkston and a few others none have any availability, so looks like we may have left it a bit late?

May have to revise the plans to early/mid September unless anyone knows anywhere that still has rooms available?

    Tried:

    Winkston
    Tontine
    Lindores
    Glede Knowe

Search has now been extended to anywhere that can fit us in (Glentress, Peebles, Innerleithen, surrounding area etc).

Is it worth our while to keep looking or should we admit defeat and go in September instead?

We have always stayed at Venlaw farm b&b on the outskirts of Peebles, decent place.
