I have upgraded my rear cassette to a hyperglide unit with a new hyperglide chain, problem is i need new chainrings - the old ones are shimano deore suitable with interactive glide cassette and chain. Can anyone tell me what chainrings to buy to suit HG gear - please

Some more info required before you're gong to get any accurate answers:
What size chainrings are on the front currently (how many teeth)?
    Double or Triple?
    What bike is it?
Have you tried shifting at the front with the HG chain? Does it work? :?:

Depends on what model of Deore chainset - the name has been used for over 20 years. Options include 4 or 5 arm, 110 or 104mm BCD
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
  • The bike is a scott Yecora about 6 years old 8 gears on a triple - replaced rear cassette and chain to HG but any pressure on pedals results in the chain slipping on the front chain rings- I also replaced the derailleur to an unfortunate accident.
  • That should have said due to an unfortunate accident

It's probably a 5-arm 94mm PCD, but suggest you take it to your LBS or check with Sheldon Brown: http://www.sheldonbrown.com/gloss_bo-z.html#bcd. You can also check the model number of your chainset, stamped on the back of the cranks arm, usually 'FC-" + 4 digits
