Hello, I've been lurking on here for a few weeks, getting some useful info and trying not to spend too much!
I'm in training for a short charity ride (30miles) in a few weeks and have been using my 'cheapest bike possible' from Halfords that I've had for a couple of years, but have barely used.
I'm looking at getting something a bit more enjoyable, but without spending too much. It also needs to be able to take a kiddie seat on the back, but it is mainly for me to pootle around on and maybe communte to work (12 miles) on occasion, even though my boss wouldn't go for the Cycle to Work scheme
Anyway, I just noticed what looks like a ridiculously good deal at CRC here: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=37907
Can anyone tell me if it's a good bike to go for? Knowing absolutely nothing at all, it looks pretty good to me.
Otherwise, any other suggestions? I'm 6' tall but with 30" inside leg, about 12.5 stone, if that helps. And reasonable unfit.
Thanks

There's another thread on here about these Vitus's.
Looks to be a bargain and probably the best you can do for this money. Only downside, no carbon fork - that will cost you £50 more. Also, is the 54 going to be too small for you? It will be alright in the leg but could be a little short in the top tube.
Bear in mind the RRP of £749 is nonsense.0 -
Thanks for the reply, I did do a search before posting but didn't find anything, I'll have another look.
I actually thought the 51 would be big enough, but have only been measured for a hybrid (Trek 7.2 FX) are road bikes different in that respect?
I take your point about the price, but it does seem well specced for £299 - never thought I'd be able to get Campagnolo gears, even if they are cheapie ones....
Any other options at that kind of price, or would I be better sticking to a hybrid as they seem to be cheaper?
Thanks0
