He wasn't too bad in Quadrophenia - but that was because he was playing a complete tosser, and didn;t have to act much0 -
He was the same at the MEN. Very cold, aloof, but at the Millennium Stadium with the Police he was actually human! Still checking the Port Talbot/Teeside thing. Wikipedia quoting it's from a book, and links to U Tube with scenes.
Tell u wot though, I'd rather be in Teeside than Port Talbot!!! Even being Welsh, it's like downtown Kabul...0 -

Indeed, his Man in the High Castle, a story set in an alternative post-war period in which America had lost the Second World War and was divided and occupied by the Axis powers, is published as a Penguin Classic.
i read this once and at the time felt that it was highly overated - and far from Dick's best work. However - just reading the Wikipedia plot summary and background I think maybe it's time to reassess.0 -
I loved Bladerunner but always thought the book knocked the film into a cocked hat. I'm still to work out in my head what mercerism was all about but the thrust of the book was all about empathy being the defining himan quality. That's why drivers aren't human :twisted:Pain is only weakness leaving the body0

I love the fact that the Millenium falcon crops up as a piece of building ...how random do directors really need to make things !

Being autistic - I would probably fail any test for empathy. :?
Am I not human?0 -

I didn't write the book mate But that was what the test for replicants was set to detect. so if you see Dekker or any of his crew heading toward you then run and hide behind the guy doing the Guinness adverts :PPain is only weakness leaving the body0 -

Hey - that wasn't at you - it's a longstanding gripe I have against Dick - especially since I suspect that there's a strong chance he was mildly autistic himself.
It's probably why I didn;t like that book too much.0 -

It's got to be hot. You've got to take your time. You've got to stir... gently and firmly. You've got to grind your beans until they squeak.
And then you put in the milk.0
