Will this work on bar ends?

Want some foam grips for my old bar ends. Saw this http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/product-Velo-Soft-Foam-Grip-for-Anatomic-YUMA-Style-Handlebars-8463.htm and wondered if when cut to size it'll fit. The diameter of the bar ends seem smaller than on bars.

Why not get some bar tape on the bar ends ? That would be easier ? You could even do two layers ?

I'd be worried about those grips coming loose to be honest.

Lizard Skins do bar end covers. Not very thick but you can fit gel pads under them if that's important.

    like these

grips on the bar ends coming loose shouldn't cause to many problems, you don't use the bar ends for control, (or should I say you shouldn't use them for control).

You use bar ends to give a change of hand positions.

At the same time, if they are not used for control, they don't need padding as your hands are not resting heavily on them.

you put weight on them when climbing out of the saddle though. Some bare bar ends are hard on the hands when you do this, and will benefit from some cushioning, especially if you ride gloveless. Also if it's really hot - such as experienced in an average UK summer 8) - then they can get slippy from sweat.

I never ride without gloves, so even when it's raining I have decent grip. and the cushioning on the gloves helps on everything.

If I'm climbing out of the saddle I'm usually pulling up on he bars a little, not resting my hands on them. Though I only climb out of the saddle for any length of time on fireroads. Technical stuff sees me sitting with the occasional slight lift over lumpier stuff.

saying that, I use the canecreek ergo barends, and they are covered in rubber.

I used to use those foam road bar grip type thiings on my old bar ends on my mtb, I think back then the standard handlebar width was 26mm, and they fitted mine perfectly.

They are still on that bike in fact, just a little split, as they have been on there about 17 years......

Now I have shiny carbon, and I couldn't envisage covering them up

I use my bar ends a fair bit for out of the saddle stuff - but then again I dont get to ride much technical stuff - I agree you'd have your hands on the tops for that.
