Have I made a terrible mistake?

OK. After much research I decided on the following...

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Focus_Black_Forest_2009/5360037562/#more

Then, after much waiting and some misinformation from Wiggle, I ended up changing to the following...

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/BMC_Team_Elite_TE02_2009/5360044444/#more

So, have I made a mistake? I don't think so...I mean, a triple butted frame!!! I don't know what that means but it sounds good. At least I get the Fox forks either way.

On paper the BMC looks better as it has a higher spec, but it's all down to the ride.

The BMC looks a little racier than the Focus.

Well the spec is better, but obviously you pay for that..

Have you made a mistake? That's a hard question to answer. The Focus gets very good reviews, though. Obviously spending more money in this case should get you a better bike, but it depends on your original budget to whether you have made the correct choice.

Triple butted means there's three different wall thicknesses in the frame (it says so in the description). This obviously makes the frame harder to manufacture, but by only using a thick wall where you need it (areas of strain) then you can reduce the weight.

both look good and i think the bmc looks better which it should as it costs more, enjoy it :)
  • Thanks for the quick reply guys. I may do an in depth thread that tells the whole tale of me starting with a £450 budget, going to a Genesis Core 20 right up to the BMC. The way I see it is that I am paying an extra £250 for a better frame (at least). The skeleton frame design sounds pretty cool and looks good. Plus, the swiss design sounds great. There wasn't much in the way of reviews on the bike, so I went with the age old maxim of you gets what you pays for. The BMC was more than the Focus regardless of discount. I could find very little information on the bike, but the forks are sound and the frame seems nice. Probably worth the extra £250. But believe me, the extra £250 will hurt me this month, but I'd like to think that it was worth it in the long run.

but the immense joy that you will feel every time your gaze falls on her

the intensely proud feeling as you mount and ride off

the passion and love when you clean it

the exhilaration as you blast off for a good post work thrashing leaving behind the misery that is a full time job

the weekends of excitement and adrenalin

    the wiggle wish lists

fuck me....all that for an extra £250

    BARGAIN and MONEY WELL SPENT

    enjoy

    sexy bike btw

Both are great bikes, at pretty incredible prices. My bank balance is glad it did not see the BMC when i was buying mine :D

For the extra £250, you get much better wheels, brakes, slightly better drive train and finishing kit that the Focus.
