Righty ho, dunno if this will take off but how about people post their dream bike made up of £6000. To make it more straightforward all bits have to be new. It can be 'off the shelf' or completely custom but you must be able to actually ride it! (And ONE bike only.)

I'm still thinking mine up.

Well, i'd start with my Sabbath Monday's Child frame, because I just love it. So....

Monday's Child Frame with Alpha Q fork £1899
Zipp 202 wheels, cos if they are good enough for Sastre to climb on and Martain Maaskant's Paris Roubaix 4th place, they would do me! £1400
I'll go with your Super Record Group at £1300
Always loved Cinelli, so lets go for RAM 2 Bianca integrated stem and bar at £500
To match then the Cinelli RAM seatpost for £150
Saddle is Selle Italia Flite 'cos that's what I use £80
    Time RXS pedals £120

That puts me at about £5500. With the rest I would get some decent tubs, tape and cages, kit myself out with some nice shiny carbon soled Sidi's and if I had anything left then some training wheels 'cos I HATE fixing punctures in tubs. :D

I tried the Trek custom build site the other day. Got upto £6k before the browser crashed.

Damn sexy with the paint scheme I chose though.

I think I would start with the VN Astraeus frame and add:

    SRAM Red group
    Easton EC90SLX fork
Ritchey WCS headset, stem, seatpost (all ally, not carbon)
    FSA wing pro compact bar
    Easton EA90SL wheelset
    Charge Knife saddle
Vittoria Open Pave Evo CG tyres
    Time RXS Ulteam Ti/carbon pedals

I reckon that would go together pretty well.......

    Zipp 404 wheelset.
    Conti GP4000s black chili tyres.
    Fizik micro tex bar tape.

Frame: Time RXR £3167 from Wiggle with my discount, is that allowed?
    Wheels: IRD Nobium/Extralite hubs/CX Ray £820 Wheelsmith
    Tyres: Vittoria CXII £52 Ribble
    Group: Super record £1294 Ribble
Bars: Time Ergoforce white £225 Probikekit
    Saddle: Toupe £70
Other: Time cages £70, Deda bar tape a fiver.

I’d take either a Lapierre Web Series Red or a Simplon Pavo.
The Lapierre weighs 6.28 kg and costs £5124, while the Simplon weighs 6.15 kg and costs about £4712 (weights without pedals - I’d choose Look Keo carbon, about £180, 280 grams the set).

Some components which the two bikes offer are identical:
    - Mavic R-sys wheels
    - Sram Red group
    - Selle Italia SLR carbon saddle.
The main differences are in fork, stem/bars and tyres:
    - Lapierre have Easton, Easton and Michelin Pro3 light
    - Simplon have Simplon, Syntace and Schwabe Ultremo.

I’d really prefer Campa Super Record as groupset and DT RRC 1250 as wheels, but then I suppose I might as well choose a different frame.
However, I’d then have to spend less on the frame compared to the above frames, because Super Record is £500 dearer than Sram Red, and RRC 1250s are £1400 dearer than the Mavics!

The Simplon with Sram Red, plus pedals, but with DTs works out at £6290 and 6.35 kg. Perhaps I could negotiate a discount of 5% - that'd bring me under £6000!

Other option for me would be to simply buy a Giant TCR Advanced SL Rabobank team edition. OK, no exotica there, but it's a damn fine bike!
