Hi

I've got the following bike

http://www.evanscycles.com/products/specialized/allez-18-2008-road-bike-ec001390

and find that when i change up the gears from the smallest sprocket up two gears it clicks when pedalling. If I change up another then down again it doesnt click when sat in the same gear. I've done all the truing of the cables and screws etc and this is the only way I can get it to stop clicking (by going up an extra sprocket then down to the one I want)

do i need a new Tiagra rear derailleur or a new right sided 9 speed shifter???
my deore on my MTB changes so smoothly, is it just the quality of the components I need to look at??

thanks

It may be that you just need to clean and lube your cables.

Sounds more like a sticking cable. Have you taken them all apart and cleaned the inners and outers?
I'm left handed, if that matters.

Screw cleaning the cables, if it's got sticky then you'll always struggle a bit! New cables and wax them before you put them through the ideally new outers.

Sounds like the cable to the rear mech could be sticking somewhere. If the end isn't frayed, release it from the mech and unthread it from the outers (leave it attached at the shifter end). Clean it and smear with some light teflon grease before rethreading it and clamping again at the mech. Index the gears and see if that sorts it.

must learn to type faster. 3 posts while I was composing that one!

Clean / lube / replace cables seems a popular suggestion though!
