well maybe not 'sinned' as such, but certainly naughty.
I have an S-Works roubaix which I built up myself at the start of 2008 - built with campag centaur groupset and campag eurus wheels - I love it.
At the start of this year I bought some 'record' shifters for the different feel and shifting mechanism.
I now want to change my trek Pilot winter bike from shimano tiagra to campag bits as I prefer the ergo levers. Obviously I already had the shifter as I had the centaur ones from when I upgraded but needed the mechs, wheels and possibly chainset (can you see where this is going)
However today when I looked at getting mirage or veloce mechs....
,,,,, I bought record for my good bike instead and the winter bike can have the centaur...
Oops - over £200
so forgive me, church of Bikeradar - as the church of 'wife' might not..

Not sure what your point is. Your course of action seems entirely reasonable.0

Hmm - yeah it didn't feel 'so' bad really.
I mean a mirage / veloce front & rear mech would have cost me around £60 - so the jump up to £230 for the record parts is hardly noticeable is it....
I Bought the record shifters in Feb as I had always wanted to try them and have record on my bike - i bought them as the 2008 models seemed to be running out of stock and unlikely to re-appear - which has proved to be right! - so I figured it was either now or never for the mechs too.
there is a plentiful supply of the black record brake calipers @ about £150 which I wonder if they are worth it - bearings in the movement make much difference?
The crankset will almost certainly have to remain as centaur though - the jump up in cost of the record item is massive! - I only paid £140 for the centaur carbon CT chainset but the record was close to £400!
(although there is always the 'fulcrum RR series.....)0
