Uneven tyre wear
On my Tricross I've got a pair of factory fitted Specialized Houffalize Sport CX tyres but the rear is wearing down more than the front. The treadblocks on the rear are noticibly smaller than the front. Most of the braking is done by the front and until last week the brakes weren't good enough to pull a skid on the rear. Is it my svelte 15 stone over the rear wheel the cause of the excess wear?
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

the rear is the driven wheel - of course it will wear faster......0

Yup - rear tyre always wears quicker - usually about 2 rear tyres for every front one. Some people switch them, others don't, depending on your point of view.I\'m sure I had one of those here somewhere0

or some people who aren't insane fit a new front and move the old front onto the rear.0

Going for some road 25s next month and get rid of the CX 32s. Its the knobbles that emphasises the wear.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

No matter what tyres you get the rear will always wear quicker than the front, the front could last ages longer.0

ooooo. interesting idea, if you rode on a fixie backwards would the front or rear wear faster....0

Also more weight over the back end of a bike. Will this create more wear?0
