I vaguely remember and old mtb i had time ago that had oval rings, im sure it was a shimano exage 300zx or 300sx or something along those lines. All i remember about it is it was fun trying to rebuild it after a strip and polish, i just couldnt work out where i was going wrong. I was young at the time and didnt have a clue what i was doing. Then i realised the rings was a strange shape, not greatly noticable but if you spun it you could see the cam action.If you cant race it, and you can't take it to bed, what is the point?0

my dad has just picked a old raleigh montana mtb circa 1991,in a bid to to a bit of cycling,with oval chain rings,looks very odd now days.dont think he'l keep it mind as frame is too big for him.
I can just about remember them when i was a kid,seams odd to see them again after all this time.0 -
