Wheelbas do maps of all the local best rides eg Kentmere area inc Garburn Pass0 -
was there last week. Go over on the ferry from windermere, along the shore track to Wray, on the road to Hawkshead, then towards Grizedale, join the Northface trail at moortop, stop at the visitors centre, then complete the trail (red grade), then return to windermere by another route if you fancy. 35ish miles in total.Greetings from the wet and windy North west0

Or do what I have just done today starting in Ambleside tho...but we biked out to High/Low Wray and then along the Lakes edge to where the ferry terminal is.
At the cattle grid/gate where the road becomes a track there is a BW to the left, climb this and then descend to Far Sawrey. In Far Sawrey turn right onto main road. Then turn right uphill onto Cuckoo Brow road towards Claife Heights. After gate at the top of a grassy climb there is a BW on the left, take this short descent, cross track and take next BW descent. When you come to the next forest road there is a BW to Hawshead hidden amongst the trees and bracken on the left(behind you!!. Take this and follow to Hawkshead for a nice coffee & cake at the cafe opposite the big car park.
Then take the road to Ambleside. Turn left for Hawkshead Hill at the house with the boat in it`s front garden!. Just after that there is a narrow road(Skinner How Lane)on the right, take this to Borwick Lodge. Take the narrow track uphill, off the main road to Iron Keld Plantation. Keep an eye out for the sign post for the plantation on your right at a gate into what was the forest. Go through the gate and follow track thro Arnside Plantation down to Stephen How.
Onto the main road and turn right towards Skelwith Bridge Then at Clappersgate you turn right, over a bridge and head for High Wray and rejoin the Lakeside track back to the ferry terminal.
We were going to do more but mate started to cramp and the weather was just starting to become a bit wet for our liking
Just one of many variations if you can read OS maps0 -
Thanks i might just have to do some of these.0

Garburn Pass / Kentmere / Stavely are also within distance.
Head upto Garburn via Dubbs reservoir, drop into Kentmere and check a map for plenty of good bridleways in the area.0
