Rydale Rumble

Just wanted to add my thanks to a really well organised event. This was my third sportive and by far the most consistent in all aspects of the organisation from car parks through to feed stations (who were so friendly) to the welcome at the end. I did the route 2 (at 55 on a compact double, I manged to ride up up both big hills - the '1' would have been too much!). I still got a silver in spite of a wrong turn at Helmsley (my fault) and wasted half an hour.

Thanks again and I will be back next year and hopefully do the rumble 1. I will try and convince my friend to come (after the Kirklees sportive, he said 'never again!')

It was the best event I've done all year. I even liked the Glaisdale bit. The way the day is organised is second to none. The climbs are awesome , Rosedale @ 100mile was a highlight!

I'd fancy a pop going up the mad 33% descent...I think it was Egton Bridge. That would be harder than Rosedale?

I'll be back for another go next year, got a time to beat!

The 33% descent is the 'Delves' climb...its a sod....but Im more frightened of the Chimney....IMO the climb out of Glaisdale 'Caper Hill' inflicted twice as much suffering on me as any other down there....I thought that awful and unrelenting.

Theres another brute you you can do down there...its known as the 'Sleights Moor' or 'Black brow' climb out of Grosmont....now THATS another horror.....but still Caper hill my most feared climb down there.

You can read of more brutes and routes in the awesome NY Moors here:-
