Which Hardtail for a £1000

I am after some suggestions to which Hardtail to go for. I am looking to spend no more than a £1000. I was looking at the Orbea Lanza Compair? :?

    you could do better. Spesh Rockhopper, Scott Scale/Aspect, Gary Fisher, Trek, Cube, Orange, Gnesis, Giant all makes have great bikes, better spec and ight now there are some bargains
    fly like a mouse, run like a cushion be the small bookcase!

    Lots of good bikes around for sub £1000

    My first question is, what kind of riding do you mainly do?

    For general XC and trail riding I've got to say Boardman Pro

    orange p7 s or boardman pro, do you want ride quality and feel, or speed and value? that is the question
