Pizza Time!

Just got back from a 3 hour ride, really fancied a cheesy pizza. Now I'm pretty good at making pizzas myself from scratch (if I do say so myself, which I do) but I was feeling lazy and nipped to Asda. Saw a San Marco cheese pizza on offer for a quid, got it home and read the box. And I quote:

"Pizza base topped with tomato sauce, analogue cheese flavour and mozzerella cheese"

What on earth is analogue cheese flavour, and what is it doing on my tea?

That's a pizza base, no toppings.
What are you, man or mouse? needs meat!
  • I'm not sure soy based cheese products are my thing, luckily I manned it up a bit with some mature cheddar.

Yeah yeah I know it needed meat but I just had a craving for cheese, maybe I'm pregnant or something. And for lunch I couldn't decide between chicken or steak so I had both

I don't get it in the first place . why shove a vegan health product type thing on a pizza then mix it with mozzarella, either have one or the other. it's just rubbish thinkin' :?

It's definitely not a vegan health thing.
They use it to bulk up the cheese, so it looks really cheesy, but isn't.
    It's cheaper than cheese, see.

It really is to bulk things up and look like there's more cheese than there actually is. I'm not lying to you!

San Marco make the worst pizzas of all - bland tomato sauce, no herbs, crap base.

    Yeah i agree with ss

IMO it has to be goodfello's pepperoni pizza with peppers and a cold beer
  • Gotta say as soon as I heard it was San Marco and only cost you a quid my suspicions were raised. That analogue cheese is well what can one say, enlightening?

oh if it's cheaper than the real stuff, I well believe you. Next time I go to a supermarket I'm going to look at those veggy pizzas and see if they have the balls to charge a premium price for the same product.

Best pizzas are the ones you get in Kebab shops. They're almost but not quite entirely unlike an italian pizza, but man they taste good!

i strongly believe that kebab shop pizzas are better than those things from pizza hut which seem to have been threatened with toppings as opposed to having been covered in them.

When I was at uni there was a place called Mama Janes run by a guy called Mohammad and they did a 7" pizza with any 2 toppings, chips and a can for £2.49. Best pizzas ever.

    ^^Damn ed right.
They're also much cheaper. You can get a 12" or 14" kebab shop pizza round here for about a fiver or so.
In Pizza hut, you have to sign a mortgage agreement before taking a bite.

i also find dominos pizza to be very dissapointing, even with 50% army discount in the local one.

the best pizza shop i have ever used whcih wasnt a kebaberie is papa johns, they are truly amazing. on their website you can create your own pizza and save it with a name for easy ordering in the future.

i "invented" a pizza with chicken ham chillies onions and extra cheese and called it the sweat stain.

    Asda pizzas FTW!

The ones they make up for you in store, are quite good....IF you get the right ones
ALWAYS go for the stonebake base...the others aren't fabulous
Other than that no complaints :)

I particularly like their pizzas made with BBQ sauce yummy, can't beat a BBQ chicken or BBQ Hickory Steak pizza :) Much cheaper than a dominos too...and less greasy

    nom nom.....I'm hungry

Tastiest pizza I ever had was a proper handmade italian one with the crazy bubbly bread, with plum sauce instead of tomato sauce, and duck!
    Tastiest thing ever!

Good call, I always go for ASDA pizza. Get a 12inch stonebake and the following toppings:
    Cajun Chicken
    Chorizo
    Peppers
    Mushrooms
    Chilli oil

Get home and add a bit of onion and black olive....yum yum and only about 3quid! Bargain
