Snowdon

It depends how good or not you are with heights and exposure. I used to love the likes of Crib Goch, Striding Edge, Sharp Edge, etc, until I saw a girl fall off Sharp Edge years ago (she got off quite lightly with a cut on her head). I still love those ridges, but my legs just turn to jelly. Did Striding Edge again not long ago and in the slightest breeze I was down on all fours
Congrats on Snowdon though, despite the crowds it's a beauty of a mountain, even by the Pyg/Miner's tracks. Never underestimate the weather though - so many times I've set off from Llanberis or Pen-y-Pass in warm sunshine and it's been freezing cold and raining up top (and seen plenty of unprepared walkers with kids up there in those conditions).0 -

Went up on Tueasday and opted for the Snowdon Ranger Path.
Weather was grey to start and as per usual for climbing mountains bloody awful at the top, my seven year old made it with a little gentle encouragment near the top and really enjoyed himself.
Saw the usual un prepared walkers including one man in jeans, crocs a t-shirt and carrying a golf umbrella in 40 mph winds!!
I could not beleive the cafe at the top, what luxury, there was hot chocolate hot food and even undrfloor heating to warm you through.
Canpsite was goos and the pub on site had real homebrew ales that were out of this world.
Lovely little steam railway ran past the camp and there was a station next to the pub
Thanks for all the advice it was much appreciated
Was it Bryn Gloch Caravan and Camping Park that you stayed at? We stayed there it was superb. We also went up the snowdon ranger, but came down Rhyd ddu, we then walked back to Snowdon Ranger . We were going to catch the bus, but none came so walked instead.______________________________________________

Jeez, that's awful. And by all accounts Swirral Edge on the way back is just as hairy. May have to look at the approach from Thirlmere instead.0 -
Re: Striding Edge
You don't have to walk on the crest if you don't want to. There's a footpath down to the right about 10 feet below the crest, which is much less exposed. I did walk the crest when I was there and although I'm not brilliant with heights either, I thought it was fine. The only bit I didn't like was a chossy gully that we (wrongly) ended up having to climb to do the last bit of Helvellyn.
Swirral Edge is avoidable. Carry on along Helvellyn past it and drop down a path down a pleasant valley back into Glenridding.0
