Can't get front mech to move!

Where are my stabilisers?

Sorry, I'm back with another problem :roll:

Front mech - XTR FD M970, X0 shifters.

I thread the cable through and tighten it but when I try the shifter, it is stiff, wont click and the mech wont move either. I've tried loosening the cable, tightening the cable, adjusting the barrel and tried following info in books and on park tools - I'm slowly going mental, yet I know it's probably me doing something proper thick!!

I'm wondering if part of the problem is how I'm threading the cable - It goes along the top tube and down the down tube. Then I'm not sure how I thread it through the mech - At the moment I've got it going under the hook things and round the bottom and up through the bolt. I have also tried it coming through the hook thing and straight down through the bolt. I don't know which is right or if I've got it totally wrong.

When pulling the cable tight which gear should I set the bike in?

When I can get the shifter clicking and moving the cable, the mech just doesn't move! :shock:

your routing is wrong.

the wire should go fron the clamp bolt straight to the stop not through the mech.
