Groupset advice

Hi,
Ok so I've finally decided on a move to campag for my new bike after many years on dura ace/ultegra + I tried the sram red group on my mates bike and I didn't like it much.
Sooooo which group should I choose??
It's between Chorus, record or super record, I know super record is the best but is it worth the high price tag??
I'm going to be doing a weekly road race next season + regular chain gang and the odd sportive.
From the web it's looking like:
£750 Chorus
£1000 Record
£1350 Super Record
Cheers *

The prices you've quoted there are internet prices. I'm getting Record 11 in a couple of weeks but am paying more for it to get it from a good shop, that way if anything goes wrong it will be fixed free of charge and fitted properly by a campag pro shop.
Super Record isn't really worth the extra cash in my opinion, but Record has some benefits over Chorus. Firstly you get ceramic bearings in the rear mech and chainset, you get a bit more carbon, and the groupset is a bit lighter. The performance may well be slightly better, but it's whether you consider it worth spending the extra money.
The way I see it is most pro riders have Record, only the team stars have Super Record, so if it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me, and I will have no excuse not to do well. Chorus is just that little bit cheaper and you won't find it on the pro's bikes, but it will still work flawlessly for years, after all, it is campag!0 -

It works a bit differently than that. The majority of teams have Record, e.g. the likes of Quickstep, and all the riders ride Record even Tommeke. Then there's teams like CdE who have the whole team kitted with SR.
I think with the teams who ride SR, the bike manufacturers have stumped up the extra cash for SR over Record - perhaps the likes of Pinarello just don't like to see their bikes slumming it with Record0 -
I'd go with reddragon here and say get Chorus and spend the extra on something that will make a difference to your performance, like better wheels and tyres. Many pro teams DO use Chorus - those outside the top echelon who have to pay for their equipment.0

I think you're right there. Pinarello in the UK or canditv or whatever it is now, have forked out for some super record.
Some of it comes down to personal preference too I guess. Chorus crank arms are solid and Record are hollow carbon. Alessandron Ballan, the World Champion no less, has been seen using Chorus cranks.0 -
Thanks for all the comments lads it's much appreciated.
I think I'll take the general advice and go for the chorus to give me spare £££ for nice tyres/wheels.
If it's good enough for Alessandro Ballan it's good enough for me!

Good choice.
Good luck with the new bike mate0
