Don't bother making a day trip just to go to Whinlatter - you'll knock it off in a morning if you're reasonably competent. Unless you want to ride it all twice, in which case you'll have finished by lunchtime.
I think that Whinlatter is mahoosively over-rated. Given the amount of superb natural riding available in the area it seems a bit redundant to me.
It's fine if you're going for a weekend or a few days but just for a day trip???0 -
like dave_hill has said, there isn't really enough trail to fill a whole day at whinlatter, but of course your smack in the middle of the lake district. There's plenty of natural trails in the area to ride as well.My Nukeproof Mega

Yeh, loads of great riding in the lakes, man made trails are fine, but like has been said, there's some awesome natural trails. I'd go to these every time.0

whinlatter is indeed a short lived ride, but it's a good ride..
like mentioned theres a few good natural routes in the area so why not take in a quick loop of the altura trail then go out into the hills..
that would make a good day out.
or your profile says manchester so i guess your a manc to. do whinlatter then hit grizedale on your way back home...www.bearbackbiking.com
