  • I bought easton sl 50's

Really nice wheels, pig to put tyres on. there are loads of threads on tyre choice for Easton. I really like the company, the look etc. The fact that it was so hard to put the tyres on did put a downer on it but I still love them.

People are saying about bearing quality. I haveonly done 200 miles but they are fine so far. Dont forget people are more likely towrite a complaint than a compliment.

You know my vote on the EC70SLs . A resounding Yes but theres is not a lot of reviews on the Internet .

What there is appears to be very favourable .

A HUGE yes from me. I have them on my new Orca.

    Superb wheels.
  • Not to go back on what I said but arnt they quite heavy?

I know they are deep and should role better once they have spun up but if you bought a
thinner alloy wheel (Posh Wheels (Road) Clincher: Tune - DT RR 1.1) you could get a pair for £600 at 1380g. Thats alot lighter and they will be strong

I've just bought a pair, they came highly recommended by one of my LBS you may say he was only trying to sell me a pair of wheels but I have a lot of respect for this guy who has a great reputation and a lot of experience. I haven't used them yet because I'm saving them for racing on.
One thing he did say was don't use them until I had changed my Dura Ace break blocks to something like Koolstop.

Hi, i was looking at these wheels so interested in peoples thoughts but i thought they had a alloy rim so normal brake blocks were ok?:

Yes - you will be fine with standard brake blocks. Maybe e999sam has a full carbon pair of Eastons, as the EC70 SL wheels are definitely an aluminium braking surface.

I do have EC70 SL. The guy at the LBS advised me to change my blocks because of Shimano break blocks ability of destroying rims. Koolstops are much kinder on rims.
