Radio 5 Last Night

After the news article on the Bike Radar home page of a cyclist being jailed for 7 months for knocking down an 84 year old pensioner on the pavement and who died later in hospital, Radio 5 had an article on their 10pm programme last night.
The trailer for the programme went along the lines of 'they jump red lights, they ride on pavements, they undertake. Do cyclists think they are above the law'
I don't normally listen to the radio much, but made a point to listen to this in the expectation of hearing a load of anti-bike vitriol. I was quite surprised, and with the exception of 2 callers it was a fairly balanced programme, and it was concluded that there are idiots in all walks of life.
What was interesting was a statistic that in the last 10 years, 3 pedestrians have been killed by cyclists on the pavement, wheras about 40 per year are killed by car drivers (on the pavement). This became a newsworthy item because of the rarity of the occurrance more than anything else.
