I didn't have a decent camera so sorry about the quality but I took a few snaps of some cattle on my first outing at Gleniffer Braes in Paisley. I was a bit apprehensive at first because they are fecking massive

Big and friendly it would appear, although I wouldn't want to annoy them.

They're the wee calves. Half the size of an adult. Cyclists aren't slow to moove over when they come across them.

I miss the heeland coo. I used to have a field behind the cottage that was want to sport them upon occasion.

These days I have a courtyard from an apartment in a lesser European capital. I prefer the old view.
  • I hate that part if its the bit of track just round from farm house because of the cows sad but they scare me

What are they up to in the second pic down?
Almost as if they are setting an ambush up for a passing cyclist...

Bellieve me the people of Cathkin Braes (Google 'Castlemilk') are more to be feared than the wild beasts.

Highland cows might look intimidating but they're usually pretty placid, and unlike other breeds they aren't that inquisitive. That said, best to "steer" ( ) clear of them if they have young with them as like most cattle they are fairly defensive.

I take me gloves of and pet their noses, then they lick the salt off my hands. Like big cats they are!

That is the exact bit where I took the photo. I was crapping myself as well, they just look so menacing.

Let me know what the conditions are like, might take another wander up tomorrow. That was my first time and thought it was pretty decent although I couldn't ride some of the stuff.....too technical for me in the rock sections.

How many T-Bones can you get out of one of those beasties?
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.
