Just had a fall, my own stupid fault, forgot to retighten a bolt after playing around with it last night
Just superficial grazes and stuff, stings a lot but nothing serious. Just waiting for the Boots over the road to open so i can get some stuff.
Gonna be a long, sore day I think.

"What happens when the hammer goes down, kids?"
"It stays down, Daddy."
"Exactly."0 -
Fortunately 12 years of rugby and American football means i know how to fall, and how to take a hit.... although it's much more fun on grass.0

Pics! sounds sick i know lol. maybe we should have a weekly comp for a bit of fun worst grazes lol, ya know if the accident is serious then its a no go realy but if its something thats your own fault like not tightening up a bolt from the night before then its fair game, just a thought. And before anyone asks no i dont think its funny falling of your bike but it could be lmao.0

All patched up now. but got some pics for you pervs, i'll stick them up later.0

Ouch
I've had a few similar incidents, one priceless on my DH bike where I forgot to do all the bolts up after adjusting my forks (double crown DH forks) and they'd slipped all the way to the bottom of the stantions by the end of the run. I wondered why the head angle kept getting steaper and steaper and people were pointing :shock:pain is temporary, the glory of beating your mates to the top of the hill lasts forever.....................

Ouch Can you raid your work's first aid kit and save a trip to Boots?0

Yeah, i was on early shift today so had to wait for the first aiders to get in, but am now all disinfected and wrapped up0 -
What happened, forget to re-tighten the rear axle bolts?
Most importantly, how's the bike? Not climber, not sprinter, not rouleur0 -

Nah it was a loose handebar bolt, came free totally and lost control, managed to get to the side of the road before hitting the deck.
Obviously I gave Carly a once over before I checked my injuries Not a scratch, landed on my side and managed to protect her0 -

Loose bolt as in no steering, or just handle bars slowly slipping forward as you lean on them
My favourite is forgetting to tighten the bolts on my brake hoods after I adjust them (yes that 1mm really does make a difference), only to find them slowly slipping down the bars with me assuming an ever more aggressive riding position as they do so.pain is temporary, the glory of beating your mates to the top of the hill lasts forever.....................

Rich158 wrote:Loose bolt as in no steering, or just handle bars slowly slipping forward as you lean on them
No steering. If the bar was just slipping forward it would have been fine, after all i've only got bullhorns and a single brake lever on there.0 -
Ouch, that sounds ugly. Good to hear yerself or the bike didn't come off any worse.
Only thing I've forgotten to tighten thus far is the brake quick release. Fortunately it was only one of them, but it did induce mild panic when trying to stop at a junction and nothing happened.0 -

Oh fun
That feeling of turning the bars and nothing happens  followed by the slowing down of time as your brain hunts for a sollution to a problem where the only inevitable outcome is you hitting the tarmac and pain :x and then blind panic as the reality of the situation sets in.
Not that I've ever done that off coursepain is temporary, the glory of beating your mates to the top of the hill lasts forever.....................

Rich158,
What a fantastic description youve put forward there. lmao! I know i shouldnt laugh and i really am very sorry Oddjob62, honestly i am but i just cant get the image out my head, the look of shear panic. Thankfully though I'm glad your ok and here to tell us your tale.0 -
Actually the funniest thing was after i hit the deck i somehow managed to yank the star nut clean out so if you'd seen me just after impact i would have been lying there on my side, feet attached to bike, handlebars in hands but not attached to frame.
TBH even I wish I had a picture of that.0 -
I can picture it now
I had a not too disimilar situation with my first car. The gearstick had a habit of pulling clean out of the gearbox  I can remember being at a junction when this happened, with the inevitable areshole behind me. The look on his face when i calmly walked up to him, gearstick in hand, and invited him to either put it in gear or give me a push was a picture.pain is temporary, the glory of beating your mates to the top of the hill lasts forever.....................

That is what I thought after many years of skateboarding.
I found out last weekend that when it comes to cycling in clips I was very, very wrong.
Ouch! :shock:None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.0 -
Ahh but in my sports you often have your feet/legs/arms/head trapped somewhere.
Hope it wasn't too serious mate.0 -

You yanked out a star nut? Fcuking 'ell!
Glad you and the bike are ok.
I forgot to tighten the stem to the steerer once, it came loose on Embankment... how I managed to dismount safely I have no idea, bike was 1 day old at the time. Stupid noob error!- 2023 Vielo V+1

The internet's a small place too. Having just about given up attempting to remove a (very) fixed sprocket last weekend, I searched the whole of google for "track sprocket removal" and the very first result was a bike radar thread in which the magical power of rotafix was suggested by none other than...
...Oddjob62
While this would usually be only mildly surprising, it's a bit weird to search the entire internet and find help from someone you actually know.
It seemed to work wonders at the time, but I'm now worried that his advice may cause my rear wheel to suddenly collapse.0 -
