When I was 12 and first got into reading MBUK all I wanted was a Kona. I think it had something to do with the wacky graphics and names they used 'back then'.

I love my CoilAir. Yes there are more 'fashionable' bikes out there but I wouldnt swap it for many others given the abuse I give it/it takes. The spec's do let them down, but ain't that part of the fun - upgrading and all that malarky.

One thing I love about it above all is that it's bloody tough, and when it gets battered by rocks, the scars look the part, unlike on these 'pretty' bikes.

I've not seen the 2010 Kona range yet.
The website only covers the 2009 range (http://www.konaworld.uk.com/)

I ride 'n' own 2 Konas. Stinky/Shred 05 models. Fantastic frames but there are better bikes out there if your looking to buy a complete rig. However, if your looking to build yourself a custom rig buying a Kona frame is the way to go. I bought my Stinky back in 05 and have upgraded all parts to result in a better spec bike, also re-sprayed the frame to matt black. Bought a Shred frame and built a second huck around bike for xc/freeride (does it well)

So yea Kona 'frames' are mint 8)

recently are they not known for a lot of snapped frames? does the horrible (my opinion) linkage make wheely-ing easier, has anyone alse noticed that guys on stinkys and stabs seem to be able to wheely for days?

Kona frames snapping? with those welds!? must be hefty heavy rider :?

The linkage in the full suss rigs does make easy wheelys, but dont all bikes make easy wheelys once you know how?

What I was actually looking for is the option that states that I have no opinion whatsoever about these bikes. I neither like them, nor dislike them, given that I have had no experience of them at all. I'm sure they are lovely. Maybe they are the best bike ever for me and maybe it's a shame I've never had the chance to try them as they could be the perfect geometry for me. But maybe not, who knows. maybe I just want an option that allows me to not choose something I don't necessarily agree with or maybe I'll just vote "no" or "yes" to deliberately skew your meaningless results.

PS they were meaningless as soon as the poll was posted.

Hired a Kona King full suss in 2007 to ride some 7 staines, I really liked it, it was lively, balanced and adjustable . Later that season i hired a Dawg Supreme full suss, it was not so enjoyable, for my personal taste, it never had the same dynamic feel the King did, but it certainly tamed the rough stuff better.

When i was upgrading my own ride earlier this year i looked at some Kona's, but found the same thing as others have mentioned, Price for Price there specs are lower then there competitors.

I was told by a local dealer that even tho Kona are very well represented in the UK, they are in fact a fairly small out-fit compared to there competition. They seem to work well tho in the British weather !!

Not really my bag. I have a 6" airsprung bike and a full-on 8" DH bike which puts me in the Cadabra and Stab and theres better bikes out there than both of them. I'm not sure if they ever change the Stab, but it doesnt look to havebeen refined for years and years.

The 2010 range isn't too bad. No idea what Kona are doing with the Kula paintjobs though. That old Stinky brown just doesn't suit the Kula at all..
Admittedly the new Abracadabra is very tempting.. [/code]
