Someone mentioned to a friend of mine a route down to the south coast, from south London along a disused railtrack. He can't remember who told him.

Apparently it's a really good, quiet ride.

Do any of you guys know what this route may be and where it goes from and to?

Sorry, bit of a stab in the dark, I know!

Downs Link runs from Guildford to Shoreham along an old railway line http://www.westsussex.gov.uk/leisureand ... eGuide.pdf

That's probably it, has anyone done it that could say what sort of bikes this would be suitable for?

    Cheers!

Yes I've ridden it (I live just outside Guildford), cyclocross or mountain bike required, if you attempt it I cycled solo there and back in a little over 6 hours on a hardtail mtb, something to beat.

Alternatively turn left once you reach the coast and train it back from Brighton.

Also if you look here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Bri ... st_Railway you could superimpose a road map onto the rail map approx halfway down the page (just below The Quarry Line), and get a nice ride from South London through Epsom, Dorking, Horsham,Steyning and onto the coast.

Thanks for the help mate but unfortunately I'm on a road bike so no go. Maybe some kind of London to Brighton thing would be ok, I'm looking for 50ish ride for the next weekend or so.

    Thats cool.

Most of the route markers are still up from this years L2B if your game for that!
