Ribble are doing there Nero Corsa carbon bike with Dura Ace and Shimano RS 80's, a fizik saddle and a decent stem and bars combo all for £1999.95.
Its what im going for, the dura ace build and a Deda carbon frame for that money is too good to resist....
Have to start saving!!Must go faster.0 -
Two years ago I would have sided with the self-build arguement. However, there's much merit in selecting from the off the peg packages prepared for a given price point by large, bulk purchasing manufacturers. This time last year I bought a Specialized Tarmac Expert. It was the outgoing 2008 model on sale for £1,750 by dealers keen to clear the shelves for the "new" 2009 range. It came with an Ultegra SL groupset, complemented by Dura-ace rear derailleur and a top of the range SRAM cassette. A nice little designer package, professionally put together by a dealer who was more than willing to replace the stem to a length of my choice. It's not perfect, but rode well enough to remain unaltered. The first ever bike of mine to do so. So, my advice for you would be to stick with the Trek of your own choice and start putting in the milesuntil you really feel the need to alter anything. Good Luck.0

I bought a Giant TCR3 (C+ bike of the year!) which is well within your price range. I was replacing a TCR carbon with dura ace so I can make a comparison with that. The TCR3 wheels are horribly heavy but i always intended to replace them so put on Dura Ace 7850 cl24s which transform the ride. Interestingly I also want to replace the groupset but find (new) 105 equally as good as the Dura Ace (which addimintedly has 40,000kms on it). I also love the compact. I chnged the bars and stem too since they are size specific and don't suit me. All in all a great frame and groupset. Comfortable smooth and quite light. Use the cahnge to buy decent wheels/tyres.0

budget is going to be blown apart if i stick dura-ace on which i don't think i can resist..
Go for it. You'll appreciate the quality long after the price is forgotten. And you'll never need to upgrade0
