Hi all,
Just after a bit of advice really to asses what my options are.
I currently run mavic open pro wheels handbuilt 32 hole, with Deore hubs if that makes any sense.
I noticed around 3 weeks ago a spke was very loose on the back wheel took it to Evans and they apparently re-trued and re-tensioned the wheel. Just noticed yesterday that the same spoke is now loose again !!.
Really I want to know what I should do as im sure handbuilt wheels should not be doing this after 11 months. someone mentioned spoke freeze but is that solving the issue instead of the underlined cause ?.
I was thinking of having it re-built what do you think ?.
Thanks

Could be a number of things such a faulty nipple (no jokes please  ), offending spoke is defective or not matched to the hub spoke hole, rim is failing around the spoke hole or possibly just not built or re-tensioned properly. The hub and rim combination should result in a very strong wheel so unless either is defective the problem is from something else.0

Is the rim dinged in that area?0

Thanks for the replies
I went over the rim closely and it looks fine no sign of any cracks etc looks pretty much like new.
I think it could be a defective nipple or spoke so ill get the shop to replace them and apply what they said was spoke freeze, I will also get them to completely re-tension the wheel.
If after all this it goes again or another spoke goes im not sure what my options are apart from a complete rebuild perhaps with stronger spokes? does that sound right to every one ?
something must be up as Evans are pretty decent and not only is the wheel fairly new but ive already had Evans re-tension and true it once like I say, so something must be defective somehwere or they done a crap job which I find hard to believe.
Thanks0
