Many apologies for the double post, but I should have put my question in this forum originally. Mods, please delete this http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtop ... t=12642836 thread.

Thanks to NapoleonD for his useful reply, but I'm hoping for a few more opinions here.

I've just bought a Scott Speedster S60 and am considering upgrading the wheels - mainly because I have hack bike that needs new rims, the thinking being I put the Alex Race 24s from the Scott on to the hack and get something a bit better for the Speedster.

My question is, considering that I have a very limited budget of £100-130 for the new wheels, will something like these:

http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/productde ... HIMWHFR370

or these:

http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/productde ... AVIWHFR775

provide a useful upgrade over the Alex wheels (which have Scott branded hubs) currently on the Speedster? If they don't then I probably won't bother.

Any other suggestion for wheels in that price range gratefully received.

Many thanks!

Have you considered the Planet-X Model B Wheelset, they always get great reviews. £125

Yes, thanks - they are the wheels that were recommended in the other thread. Just wondering if anyone had had a different view.

    Cheers

As above at your budget. Plus considering the weight and spec level of the finishing kit on an S60 you wont get huge performance gains anyway. The Spedster frame is very light , rigid and responsive and with a high end groupset it would make an excellent race bike. Maybe the planet x wheels and some decent tyres?

Thanks - I bought the Speedster with intention of upgrading as the low-end bits wore out, but as I need a pair of cheap wheels for the other bike I might go for the Planet Xs for now - even though the gains will be small.
