best entry level bike

am new to cycling looking to spend approx £300 on bike as there are loads of makes and models and advice or recommendations would be great

    For that budget it seems to be the general view on here to look into the second hand market to get better value for money and a decent frame worth upgrading.

    There's the

    Cerrera TDF at halfords £270

    Decathlon Sport 1 £270

    Claud Butler Criterium £260

    Above very silimiar tbh and not as bad as some claim.. Decathlon got excellent reviews recently in a glossy mag, This very sites testers (experts) rated the TDF highly too. My choice would be the Decathlon - especially if you have a local store.
