Is this any good? I have a stack of lps and cassettes I'd like to digitalise and wonder if anyone here has any input.
Many thanks

  • For my vinyl I bought a Numark deck with USB connection that plugs directly into the computer, then I clean up the recordings with Audacity software.

Works well, but is a bit time-consuming and obviously wouldn't help the cassette source stuff.

*another edit* Actually I just noticed you can connect a casstte player to the deck and use it to get the audio signal into your computer that way. Must try that some time...

Audacity comes with the deck, but it's worth checking the website to see if there is an updated version to download. It's a nice package once you get the hang of it. You get a handy booklet manual for the software which I found helpful for bookmarking and then splitting a captured audio file into separate tracks.

for cassettes i took my brothers hifi cassette player, and hook up the headphone socket to the mic socket under computer screen. altho i use adobe audition 1 but recommend Sony Sound Forge Audio Studio as its a load cheaper tho not many left at amazon uk i dont think.

had used plusdeck 2c for the past 2 years but the tapes startd getting ruined so a proper cassette player is far better, one that plays both sides without having to take it out.
