29er for Commuting etc

I keep coming across great pictures on the net of 29er mountain bikes kitted out for commuting \ all terrain touring.
Salsa do the Fargo http://www.salsacycles.com/fargoComp09.html which is probably a bit too extreme.
I just fancy something that can handle my 19 stone, 100 miles a week of pot holed back lanes, a bit of touring in the summer and the odd woodland track.... Don't want much I know, but it seems this 29er concept might tick my boxes.
Anyone else gone down this route and could recommend some options.
Cheers

A 29er mtb with fixed forks and drop bars is a heavy cyclocross bike. The rim diameter is the same as 700c - so the same as cross bikes and touring bikes.
The Fargo is a super-tourer for the fashion conscious. 6 bottle cage mounts for those long days in the Gobi desert. Enough racks to carry tents for the entire infantry division.
I have a La Cruz. Less scope for racks and so on, but I can get full guards on okay.
Lots of other options in the cyclocross world, and the touring bike world.0
